All through the bible there are mentions of doves. I never thought about doves as being one of Gods chosen creatures until We witnessed what we did on June 20, 2010. This was the last day that Brad was with us on this earth. We had been sitting all morning with Brad in his hospital room at Monroe Carroll Children hospital in Nashville. Brads condition by now had worsened to the point that he was no longer awake. The doctors had told us that it was just a matter of time. We had already had a Pastor come in and pray with us early that morning Somewhere around 11:00 am Me and Brads mother Sheila were sitting at Brads bedside holding his hands along with the rest of his family. We suddenly heard a sound coming for outside of Brads window. It was a cooing sound we both got and went to the window and to our surprise the two doves were sitting on Brads window. The cooing sound sounded like they were saying “Come on” Come on”. Both Sheila and Myself just busted into tears because we knew in our hearts that the Lord had sent his angles to take Brad home. We called all the Family that wasn't in the room in to see the doves and the Nurses also came in and they told us that they had never seen doves at in any window at the hospital. The one dove that is sitting down kept looking in the window, pecking at the glass and cooing. The other dove kept trying to nudge her away but she refused to leave. This went on for about fifteen minutes. Then they flew away. All the family was still in the room crying and talking about the doves. Brad hadn’t said anything all day suddenly raised up and looked around the room, smiled real big like he always did and said “I’m OK” He laid back down and never said another word. We all knew right then and there that he was OK. Brad left this old earth 12 hours later. There is no doubt in our minds where he is and I know that I will see him again.
I have another special story that I would like to share. After Brad passed we spend allot time at the cemetery. We like to call it Brad's garden. We were there often times way past dark and decided that we would get the electric company put up a security light so we wouldn't have to sit there in the dark. All the family pitched in and we bought the light and had ti put up. There are several items that were bought by family and friends that have been placed on the base of Brad's monument. One of these is a clear engraved figurine of Jesus. It is flat glass that is engraved from the back and the glass is stained with the image of Jesus. This is sitting on the corner of the base. There was also a plaque that said welcome to my garden setting to the left of his monument. The first night after we had the light installed we were at the garden waiting for the light to come on so we could see how well it lit everything up. We were sitting there talking about Brad and how much me missed him and how we longed to see him. It finally got dark enough for the light to come on and it was shinning right on Brads garden. As we sat Sheila all of a sudden said "Oh My God John Look It's Brad" I said where. She pointed to the plaque and I couldn't believe my eyes. The light was shinning through the Jesus figurine and casting an image on the welcome to my garden plaque. The profile was amazing, right down the the little scar he had on his left cheek. He always wore a hat and sunglasses. I know that that was just one more way the he was letting us know that he was alright. Truly Amazing.
